Transnational Issues of Finland

There are currently different groups in Finland who want to take back land in the Karelia region which was ceded to Russia. Other groups wish to have closer ties to this former region which has been fought over since the 13th century. In Finland these disputes are known as the Karelian question. The Finnish Government does not currently lay any claim to this land.

There is also a portion of the population which has an animosity toward the Swedes. The population of Swedes in Finland is a small percentage, yet have a large amount of power.
